There are parts to the world we live in we never see. There is our world, and then there is the spiritual world. We walk around everyday not seeing or hearing the Demons and Angels that walk among us. People in Portland walk past the same coffee shop everyday, but today none notice the cloaked figure and the beam of sunlight coming from a cloudy sky. And no one hears them converse.
“Reaper.”
“Lord.”
“Gabriel told me about Justin.”
Reapers eyes flashed briefly.
“Yeah, I thought that’s what this would be about.”
“Reaper, you didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Yeah, Justin is trapped in his Hunter form, he is forced to stay with that Jenkins girl because his mom chased him out, and now he is fighting Proteous, the most powerful Demon next to Lucifer and Apollyon!”
“All humans have flaws, Reaper.”
Reaper snorted, “But I had to choose the one human who had the only flaw that could throw the Power out of control to be my next Mystic Hunter!”
The Light shimmered slightly.
“Reaper, this isn’t about Justin is it. You are still upset about your relocation.”
“I’d rather be a guardian for Hell’s Gates than be stuck in the middle of these corrupt creatures!”
“You are in control of the Mystic Hunters, there are thousands of Elite who would love to have your position.”
Reaper threw a look at the Light, “Surge crossed over.”
“You fear Surge?”
Reaper’s eyes sparked, “Surge is the most powerful Mystic Hunter chosen, he has the potential to take Proteous out!”
“Is Surge the only problem?”
“Yeah, and possibly Justin.”
“Remember Reaper, I am the one who allowed Justin to be chosen, and I don’t make mistakes. Surge and Proteous will be taken care of, it is all part of the Plan.”
“That’s a relief.”
The Light flickered, flashing in something akin to amusement.
“We will talk again.”
The Light shimmered, and disappeared. Reaper stood a time longer, watching people go by. Then he faded into the shadows. He had a mission, and his mission was part of the Plan.
And the Plan cannot, and will not fail.
